back to home
Sydney - March 2010
From Friday the 26th of March, until Tuesday the 30th of March, I visited Sydney.
I offered a Question and Answer Session, Aware Parenting Consultations, and Field Center Certified Facilitating.
If you are interested in hosting an Aware Parenting workshop and Aware Parenting consultations and Facilitating sessions in your area, please contact me at awareparenting@iinet.net.au
Below gives you an idea of what happened in Sydney, and what could be arranged in your home town:
Aware Parenting Workshop
This session is for parents who are already practicing Aware Parenting.
So that everyone understands the underlying concepts and principles of Aware Parenting, I prefer that those who attend have read at least one of Aletha Solter’s books, or several of either Aletha’s articles (at www.awareparenting.com), or my articles (here at www.parentingwithpresence.net).
The session gives you the opportunity to ask questions about practicing Aware Parenting.
Maybe you want to understand more about how your own presence, beliefs, or feelings are influencing your child.
Perhaps you want more clarity about helping your baby sleep, or how to help your baby or child let go of a control pattern, or to understand more about setting loving limits or laughter games.
You may also want to connect with other Aware Parenting families in your area.
I’d prefer if babies and children over 6 months do not attend, so that participants can fully concentrate on the session. Babes in arms (up to 6 months) are very welcome.
Aware Parenting Consultations
Consultations are ideal for those who want to deepen their practice of Aware Parenting.
Some of the themes that parents bring to the session are:
living Aware Parenting;
helping babies sleep;
night waking;
control patterns;
laughter games;
hitting and biting;
sharing;
sibling harmony;
healing from fears;
and parenting with presence.
During the consultation, we may explore many levels, such as:
how your own feelings and beliefs are influencing what is happening;
ideas about what might be going on for your child;
and specific strategies that you might want to implement.
I prefer that parents coming for a consultation have already read one of Aletha’s books, or several of Aletha’s or my articles.
Field Center Certified Facilitating
Many parents have found Facilitating to be a valuable part of their Aware Parenting journey, although each stem from very different paradigms.
Desire is a natural and vital part of life that calls us to ever-greater fulfilment, creativity, and self-expression. Yet often we may be set against our desires. At war with ourselves, we may not even realize that we’re settling for payoffs that we’ve largely outgrown.
At such times, Facilitating can be an invaluable resource. A quick, powerful, and gentle method for clearing inner contradictions that give rise to suffering in various forms, Facilitating taps our willingness and creative responsibility to help us shift into alignment, relief, joy, peace, and greater fulfilment.
Sessions go for 45 to 60 minutes. There are no prerequisites other than an open mind and heart, and the willingness to take responsibility to receive a better situation. For more information about Facilitating, see www.fieldcenter.org
